Important Update

Dear All,

It is with mixed emotions that I make the following announcement.

After careful assessment of the current and potential future impacts COVID-19 situation, the Conference Organizing Committee has decided to conduct the 39th Digital Avionics System Conference (DASC) which was planned to take place from October 11-15, 2020 in San Antonio, Texas as a completely virtual conference. The conference is still scheduled for the same week, but a detailed program will be announced later. The considerations in making this decision included:

1. Current regional, national and organizational travel restrictions;
2. Continuing uncertainty with respect to the COVID-19 situation;
3. Need to provide stable clarity to track and session chairs, authors, attendees for planning purposes; and
4. Sufficient lead time for the Organizing Committee to plan and execute an effective virtual conference.

It is my believe that we will still meet our core conference objectives to varying degrees:

1. Provide a forum for free discussion of new ideas, research, development and applications;
2. Acquire high quality technical papers for publication in a DASC Proceedings; and
3. Provide an atmosphere to enhance the interpersonal rapport among professionals and students in digital avionics and closely related fields.

Although we will all have preferred to gather for DASC at one location physically as always, a virtual option will offer an alternate platform for interaction including a mix of live, pre-recorded and on-demand content. The upside of this early decision is the lead time we now have to prepare to make this new conference format both effective and a success. I look forward to you all for your full commitment and support towards making this an exciting and effective virtual conference. All authors should be assured that presented papers will be published in the conference proceedings.

Details and impacts of this decision such as registration fees, sponsorship, technical program schedule and tutorials are still in progress. Further updates will be communicated when available. As always, I encourage you to visit the conference website frequently for updates.

Yours Sincerely,
Emmanuel Letsu-Dake, PhD
Conference Chair 39th Digital Avionics Systems Conference (DASC)
